About The Project
This project relies primarily on two datasets from Piketty, Saez, & Zucman, as well as Auten & Splinter. This project attempted to source estimates for Smith, Yagan, Zidar, & Zwick, but no estimates were available.
Fatima Omar
Fatima is a MPP candidate at the University of Chicago in her second year. She has an undergraduate degree in Classical Studies also from UChicago, where she first became interested in data and coding while taking a class on digitizing ancient texts. Prior to being at Harris, she was a data analyst for Chicago Public Schools. Fatima is interested in anti-poverty work in the city of Chicago.
Ishan Nagpal
Ishan is a University of Chicago M.P.P. candidate and attorney licensed to practice in California. Prior to enrolling at University of Chicago, Ishan litigated over 50 criminal cases at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, including gang allegations and first-degree homicide. Further, at a Technology Litigation firm, he worked on an ITC investigation on behalf of a biotechnology startup. Ishan is interested in Empirical Legal Research as it relates to criminal justice, government transparency, data privacy, and antitrust.
Mark Sheppard
Mark Sheppard is a graduate research assistant at the University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy, and a research assistant at the Department of Public Health. Mark holds a masters in Political Economics from Georgetown University and is interested in inequality.
